Project Information

We are installing 1,500 feet of natural gas line in Aurora for the Chambers and Sixth Natural Gas Project. The natural gas line will be installed with an underground bore along Chambers Avenue, between north of 6th Avenue and Elkhart Street.

This project allows us to provide safe, reliable service, and enhances system resiliency to extreme weather.

Friday, July 1, 2022

Crews will not work on July 4 in observance of Independence Day. Starting on July 5, northbound Chambers Road between 6th and 8th avenues will be closed. Please follow posted detour signs.

In addition, crews will be performing utility locating activities.

During work you may notice:

  • Marking of utility lines and utility survey holes.
  • Road, sidewalk and trail closures.
  • Traffic control.
  • Temporary changes to access.
  • Construction noise.

We’ll restore work areas to preconstruction conditions as weather allows.

We will install natural gas line by boring. Boring uses a bore machine to create an underground pathway through which the line is pulled or drilled.

We’re installing new natural gas line in Aurora, Colorado for the Chambers and Sixth Natural Gas Project this year.

We will install 1,500 feet of natural gas line via boring along Chambers Avenue, between north of 6th Avenue and Elkhart Street.

This work allows us to continue to provide you safe, reliable service and enhances system resiliency during extreme weather.

 

Construction

What is the schedule and when will construction happen?

Work on the Chambers and Sixth Natural Gas Project is expected to begin in late spring 2022 and continue through fall 2022.

We anticipate construction activities will occur primarily during daytime hours. We will communicate with our customers if after-hours, nighttime or weekend work is required. Schedules are subject to change.

Will construction affect me?

We will contact you directly if your home or business will be affected by construction.

How will the natural gas line be installed?

We will install the natural gas line boring which uses a machine to create an underground pathway between an entry and an exit point through which the natural gas line is pulled or drilled.

Will my natural gas service be interrupted?

We do not expect interruptions to your natural gas service. We will communicate with you directly if interruptions are needed, and work to limit them to less than one day.

Will I be able to get to my home or business?

We will work to keep access to your home or business open or provide alternative access points if possible. Steel plates may be placed over trenches to provide driveway access. We will contact you directly to coordinate changes if your access will be impacted.

Natural Gas Safety

What are the signs of a natural gas leak?

It is important to know how to recognize a natural gas leak, so use your senses. Signs include:

  • A “rotten egg” or sulfur-like odor, though it may smell differently to you.
  • Hissing, whistling or roaring sounds outside near a natural gas line or inside near an appliance.
  • Dirt spraying into the air or continuous bubbling in a pond or creek.
  • Unexplained dead or dying vegetation.

What should I do if I think there’s a natural gas leak?
