Overview
Xcel Energy will relocate natural gas line in the intersections along 25 Road, between Patterson and F 1/2 roads in Grand Junction, Colorado.
This work will accommodate construction in the area and ensure natural gas system safety.
We are completing our work in advance of the City of Grand Junction’s Four Canyons Parkway Project which will add a new roadway and realign existing intersections in the area.

Construction updates
Friday, December 5, 2025
During the week of December 8, crews will work in the following areas:
- 25 Road, between Waite Avenue and F 1/2 Road
- Local traffic allowed, through traffic follow posted detours.
- Intersection of 25 and F 1/2 roads
- Full 24/7 closure through December. Local access allowed. Through traffic follow posted detours.
- Natural gas line installation.
- Natural gas testing activities.
- Restoration activities.
- F 1/2 Road, between 25 Road and Crossing Street
- Local traffic allowed, through traffic follow posted detours.
- 25 Road, between F 1/2 Road and Blichmann Avenue
- Full 24/7 closure. Local access allowed.
- Intersection of 25 Road and Blichmann Avenue
- Xcel Energy natural gas line installation and restoration complete in this area.
- Water line replacement work being completed by the City of Grand Junction’s Four Canyon’s Parkway Project in this area.
- Blichmann Avenue, between 25 Road and Foresight Street
- Local traffic allowed, through traffic follow posted detours.
- 25 Road, between Blichmann Avenue and F 1/4 Road
- Local traffic allowed, through traffic follow posted detours.
Crews will work Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. In certain circumstances, crews may work evenings, nights or weekends.
We are completing our work in advance of the City of Grand Junction’s Four Canyons Parkway Project which will add a new roadway and realign existing intersections in the area.
Please follow posted detours and instructions from traffic flaggers. Schedules are subject to change.
How it affects you
We will implement full road closures along 25 Road while we work in each project area. Local access will be maintained.
During construction, you may notice:
- Marking of utility lines and utility survey holes.
- Road and sidewalk closures.
- Traffic control.
- Temporary changes to access.
- Construction noise.
Installation will utilize open trenching which involves digging a trench and placing the natural gas line in the trench.
We are committed to maintaining a safe working environment in your community. For your safety and the safety of our crews, remember these tips:
- Watch for construction crews and equipment.
- Do not enter construction areas.
- Obey signage and directions from crews.
- Reduce speeds while traveling.
- Observe parking restrictions.
- Remain flexible as work progresses and work areas change.
We’ll restore work areas to conditions required by permits as weather allows. Work areas may be left temporarily restored after construction until we can complete final restoration.
Schedule
Construction began in early October 2025 and will continue through December 2025.
Construction will occur Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. In certain circumstances, we may be required to work evenings or weekends.
